Competition Rules and Regulations
The Ultimate Force / Fitness Challenge (UFC) pre-selection, training and selection rounds, semi-finals and final contest will take place in the Netherlands and/or at other countries determined by the UFC management. The following rules and regulations apply for all aspects of the UFC event processes for Teams and/or Contestants (T&C).
UFC bv, Netherlands are the promotors, organisers and production. Producers of the UFC and has its own competencies and responsibilities that are unrelated to these competition rules.
Contestant Registration
UFC cannot provide / is not allowed to provide a collective extreme sports insurance for T&C.
For T&C the Terms and Conditions are a mandatory requirement for the procurement of private health insurance, and must include a hard-copy proof of the insurance policy, translated in English send to UFC up front to the start of the event.
Definition
The UFC is a challenging outdoor, extreme sports, team and or individual contest for adult men and women based on military tactics. The complete contest includes multiple disciplines and is divided into a) pre-selection; b) training rounds; c) team selections; d) elimination rounds e) semi-finals and f) finals.
Team Definition
Each 5 pax team will appoint 1 Team Captain within the team. Each team consist as four (5) individual contestants. individual female contestant. Each team / sole contestant will consist of two (2) female and two (3) male contestants. Or three (3) female and two (2) male contestants from the same country. Each team can choose to bring* one (1) reserve contestant as a substitute in the circumstance that a team member is injured or unwell and unable to compete and has to retire from the event. A reserve competitor is not allowed to be substituted if the “injured or unwell” competitor intends to re-join the competition.
Ladies Only Definition
As an individual ladies’ only Ultimate Fitness Challenge performed since 1999 physically the same as the country team performance. There will be a maximum number of 16 individual contestants allowed. Next to the physical sports challenges the ladies have to perform in 4 fashion show / catwalk performance in various types of clothing from swimsuits to formal, casual and evening gala dress.
Personal Disciplines
Personal /traits disciplines you must possess are: • Commitment to your team and to the event• T&C spirit and fair play • Acceptable vocal and verbal behaviour in a T&C spirit • Good presentation, charisma, humour and attitude • Fearlessness • Adaptability to changing conditions • Mental agility.
Contest Disciplines
The following disciplines like – but not limited to – combinations of the following will make up the event courses:
- Mountain biking • Running • Swimming • Climbing • Weight lifting • Steep hill running • Balance • Agility• Cat crawling • Flying fox • Abseiling • Military assault courses • Rope courses • Watercraft-various • Land and water obstacle courses • Survival courses • Water disciplines • Strength • Power • Speed • Endurance • Rowing • Rope / Cable • Balance • either as an individual or group discipline.
Event Rounds
Depending on the local conditions, weather, temperature and circumstances all contest courses (with the exception of the survival course) and whether single or combined, will have a maximum distance of 10 kilometres.
A maximum of 16 contest disciplines will be used for the final contest.
Scoring and Ranking
Scoring is based on the overall time each T&C takes to complete a course. Ranking is determined on the time score (see the scoring system). The total time including any penalties incurred determines the ranking of the T&C. The overall ranking per contest will be handled as selection criteria for advancement to the next round.
Penalties will be detailed in each pre-race briefing.
Semi-final
T&C’s that have survived the elimination rounds and advanced to the three (3) day semi-finals will compete in an individual and/or a combinations of contest disciplines. Announced at the contest location and before each race will be the disciplines that will make up that race.
Each team captain will and take part in a pre-race briefing where they will receive a race information paper handout and discuss specific penalties, rules and regulations for the race(s).
Advancement to the final contest will be based upon the T&C overall ranking. At the location of the semi-final and final contest, the overall ranking will determine how many T&C will be selected for the final contest.
Final
At a location to be determined the final contest includes disciplines similar to those in the semi-finals as well as one or more disciplines.
Each team captain will and take part in a pre-race briefing where they will receive a race information paper handout and discuss specific penalties, rules and regulations for the race(s).
The winning T&C’s of the UFC will be determined based on the final results in ranking. Knock out rounds will determine which two teams / 3 individual contestants will compete for the title of UFC Champions. The 2 teams / 3 individual T&C’s competing for the UFC Champion title will start the grand final race with a zero score.
Scoring system
The UFC scoring system applies to all contest disciplines.
For each T&C the total time scored at each contest will be accumulated as a running tally, including penalties.
1st place ranking is the lowest accumulated time, including penalties, up to the last place who is highest accumulated time including penalties.
From day three (3), eliminations of T&C will occur (exit-day). T&C with the lowest ranking on the day is excluded from further competition.
Contest program
In the contest program the exact number of contest disciplines will be determined according to the rules. The timetable and the order of the contest disciplines will be determined by the organisers each day in the contest program. Depending on the contest location additional rules & regulations will be included in the contest program.
Fair play and honest contest proceeding
The head referee, the referee(s) and other officials will be introduced to the T&C and coaches before the first day of the final contest.
T&C who intentionally breach and/or deviate from the rules and regulations on a race course outlined in the briefing will immediately be disqualified and will receive the lowest ranking with a double score penalty for their daily score result. Any repeat behaviour in the intentional breach and/or deviation in a subsequent race will result in the T&C’s to be permanently disqualified and banned from further participation.
Each race will have one Head Referee and a minimum of one Referee who will manage fair, honest contest proceedings and timekeeping.
Objections concerning referee decisions can be brought before the Head Referee not later than one quarter of one hour after the finish of the concerning outdoor discipline.
Any judgement, decision or penalties concerning an incorrect performed discipline will be made by at least: the Head Referee and one Referee and their decision is final.
Disabled Contestants
Teams consist of 5 team members –two (2-3) male and two (2-3) females, to a total of 5 contestants.
Where a team member becomes unable to compete then each team must compete with a minimum of three (3) people. Each team is allowed one (1) spare contestant.
Where a team has more than one (2) disabled contestant, the total team will decline from the competition.
Of the three (3) remaining teams in the finals if a T&C have one (2) contestant missing due to injury or ill health, the remaining T&C will be brought in balance with the same number of contestants. Team members of each T&C must decide which member to keep on the side lines in order to keep competition equal and fair.
Doping control
‘At random’ tests
Concerning the use of doping the organization of the UFC uses the doping rules of the WADA. To control the use of doping the organization will ‘at random’ carry out tests for doping.
T&C are obliged to fully co-operate in these ‘at random’ tests, at which T&C ‘at random’ can be summoned to hand in two double-blind urine samples under supervision. Contra expertise and objections are treated in accordance with the WADA rules.
T&C who refuse to co-operate in an ‘at random’ test or are found to have a positive test result will be immediately disqualified.
Individual doping tests
Summoned T&C who by circumstances are unable to submit to the ‘at random’ doping test(s) will be given the opportunity to prove themselves clear of doping by way of a WADA laboratory test with a report. Individual testing is only permitted after a written approval of the organiser. The costs involved are the responsibility of the T&C. Costs will be refunded upon a negative test result.
The individual doping testing has a time limit of six (6) days after the request is given for a ‘random’ test.
In case of omission of the obliged and / or time submission of the WADA laboratory report or in case of a positive doping test result, the T&C will be excluded from further participation by disqualification.
Safety, health risks and insurance
The below-mentioned measures are intended to minimise risk and maximize health and safety.
A proper medical examination of the T&C of the UFC by a medical doctor is recommended but not compulsory. UFC will provide a professional medical specialist.
During the semi-final and final contest, qualified first aid will be present. During swim events members of the rescue/ first aid will be present on the water in a boat. During outdoor events there will be a qualified first aid present with transport facilities.
Participation is at each T&C’s own/individual risk. T&C’s must ensure they have an adequate cover insurance. The organiser will not be held liable for any costs, direct or indirect, as a result of participation in the UFC.
Advertising
Legal regulations
Regarding a possible television broadcast the organiser is bound to the media law and to legal regulations made by the ‘Commissariat of the Media’ (a law enforced by a government-appointed media commission).
Like the Organiser all T&C and coaches are obliged to comply with these legal regulations. It is a requirement that every contestant sign a “Quitclaim” rights release form.
Private sponsoring
Display of private sponsoring of T&C / contestants and coaches outside of the UFC sponsorship is strictly prohibited. This means when persons: carry, wear, show, use, consume too showy and ostentatious logos / logotypes / utterances / products or other eye striking features from third parties / non-event sponsors.
To express / expose private sponsoring during the pre-selection, semi-final and final contests, during television shootings without written permission of the organiser is prohibited. The organiser reserves the right to remove T&C, contestants, coaches, companions, family, friends and fans who do not comply from the contest location at any time. Specifically, in the presence of television cameras, preparing to record or recording, photographers or electronic recording devices for The Ultimate Forces Challenge
Required dress code
All participating T&C’s are bound to a dress code. Before each contest the T&C’s will be advised which UFC provided clothing will be worn.
The required dress code includes the following clothing articles: swimming gear, accessories, sportswear, running wear, protection wear, helmets, elbow and knee protectors and other for specific events suitable wear or articles.
T&C are allowed to use neutral wear (wear and / or articles ‘without’ logo / logotype) during the performance of a contest item when clothing specifications has not been advised by the organiser. The organiser has the right to determine if the wear is neutral and, if deemed necessary as the team or competitor to remove it. Failure to comply will result in removal from the event until appropriate clothing is worn.
Decency & Values
Each UFC (m/f) member and UFC employee / crew can be expected to properly communicate verbally and non-verbally, emailing, writing with anyone who moves / operates within the organization, production and/or with participants.
Any form of insulting, abusive, inflammatory, discriminatory, verbal and non-verbal communication, bullying and anti-social behaviour in any form will not be tolerated and deemed in direct violation of the UFC code of conduct.
The organiser/organization has un-refutable and final right to deny anyone, UFC (m/f) participant(s), UFC employee(s) and/or production employee(s) further and future participation with the UFC without any financial refund or compensation.
Coaches
Concerning the contests – pre-selection, semi-final and final, there are two regulations for coaching. It will be decided which regulation will be applicable depending on the contest location and for each individual contest. This will be announced via the definite contest program.
Regulation
UFC Coach Definition: a person who supports a T&C team of four (5) and is chosen by that team. Coaching just before and after a contest discipline /event is reserved to the contest coaches.
Other coaches are allowed to be present at the contest location. They are not permitted to directly participate as a coach or interfere, just before and after the contest item, with the T&C or the contest item.
Each group of T&C is allowed to have one contest coach ore separate. The T&C in a group decide between themselves which coach is most suitable as a contest coach within the team.
Former UFC Crew and or employees are NOT allowed to coach contestants and or individual contestants.
Coaches who consider themselves suitable as a contest coach should apply not later than one month before the contest to the event organiser. Coaches operate on behalf of their team and do not have an official status within UFC.
Political, behavioural and social rules for UFC staff and volunteers.
For formatting, brand and product protection, quality and clarity, the UFC organization has established the following policy, code of conduct and rules of behaviour for UFC, UFC employees and volunteers (hereinafter UFC’s).
It’s UFC’s crew up to 1 year after completion of the voluntary / service not permitted to contact, build and / or maintain with UFC participants (m/f).
For up to one year post completion of voluntary / service / employment UFC’s crew is/are not permitted to contact, build and / or maintain any relationship – friend, partner or otherwise with UFC participants (m/f)
For up to one (1) years post completion of voluntary / service / employment UFC’s is/are not allowed to recruit / interest UFC participants (m/f) for their own and / or third parties, activities, sports, events and / or competitions. UFC officers advise participants (m/f) to be alert to these rules and from the relevant participants.
For up to two(2) years post completion of voluntary / service / employment UFC’s is/are not allowed to engage participants (m/f) during the time(s) before, during or after the UFC auditions, selections and competitions with intentions of private approach or general liaises.
UFC’s found to be in violation of applicable policies, will be removed from duty, effective immediately along with the respective UFC participant (m/f) being withdrawn from the event.
For up to one(1) years post completion of voluntary / service / employment UFC’s is/are only allowed to communicate with participants (m/f) to inform and/or provide information directly pertaining to the practicing, performing and/or presenting the UFC auditions, selections and competitions.
For up to two (2) years post completion of voluntary / service / employment UFC’s are bound by the policy described above.
By cooperating in the UFC events, selections and competitions UFC co-workers automatically agree with the above policy, behaviour and manners.
In conclusion
All T&C and coaches are strictly bound to observe the instructions of officials of the organizer and the local authorities e.g. police and fire brigade.
All event related rules and regulations are affected by offer and acceptance and under Dutch law.
UFC is allowed to adjust, change, remove, apply, future Rules & Regulations before the competition starts.
