Of course it will, what would we do without them? From day one the ladies edition had a stage performance from bikini quickly changed to a real fashion show. But for the new ladies, the various outdoor disciplines always prevail over the catwalk performance by points. There were all outdoor disciplines raking stands for points, the fashion show counts for just half the score, so the sport performance will dominate the total score in ranking. Due to the catwalk disciplines we received some questions and were happy to answer. Exactly the fashions shows distinctives UFC from the other events. Where the ladies felt a bit uncomfortable in the beginning, later on they realized showing the real women behind the sports performance made their score in ranking extra special. The feminine presence in sports became much more important during the years as Sports Illustrated Magazine showed already years ago.
We’ve seen some great catwalk performers during the UFC years being natural talents, knowing how the play camera and the judges. Lots of ladies started catwalk training and how the choose the right clothing realizing these difficult fashion shows could hand some extra points to increase the score.
Now knowing these ladies actually like this kind of competition when being treated respectfully and with dignity. Yes, we will continue this type of competition which sets UFC apart 20 years ago. Each edition there will be 4 fashion shows in different styles from swim clothing to evening dress and everything in between by their own choice, so the ladies can present themselves to the judges at their best.
These catwalk series are the moment for our photographers to make those memorable shots for specific print media and publishing online, which are often more important than TV images. These catwalk series require a specific photographer who can catch those special moments like Arnold Ranty and Esther Hereijgers, already committed with UFC for years. Of course, unexperienced ladies will have cold feet at their first appearance on the catwalk but soon they adapt to the attention, the cameras, the judges and friends and family in the audience, we’re looking forward to it.
Because we love what we do
